Well as usual K2 was a relaxed affair with much Gaming and Drinking. This I believe is the first year ever that I had not gotten an RPG in ...

There was Memoir 44, 18EU, Indonesia, Polaris(Magnet-Manual Dexterity Game), Poker (I finally won some money now only down120 Quid), Lots of Werewolf (without the Adjective), a pickup card/Board Game involving shooting Ducks and of course some drinking games invented by Fiki and Wookie (All fear Fizz, Buzz, Wazz, Langer, Waa)

Other Games Played by People over the weekend included Die Macker?? A Game involving the German Election System, Game of Thrones, Citadels, Mag Blast, Magic:TG, Versus, 100 blank white cards and the World of Warcraft Board Game.

K2 also Featured the Batman Movie (1960’s Series) Some Interesting Chats, Large Fry ups, Some wonderful Paste Bake and Some great Chile.

All in all a great weekend and many thanks to natural20 for organising it.

Yesterday I Lost my Wallet. I had money in it and an Expired Bank Card... So I write it off as a Lost Cause...

Today I get a Phone Call from my bank to let me know that my wallet has been found and is waiting for me in Carraige Office... A garda forwarded the Bank Card Id to them so they could contact me...

Now I get to out with all the Money I though I'd Lost... Life is Good...

In the Financial Times is a story which claims that China has introduced an "anti-online game addiction system" designed to protect players from the mental and physical perils of spending too much time in front of computers. The plan will encourage players to play less by cutting the benefits they gain in online games, and it is to be implemented by local internet companies that have signed a code of conduct. The move reflects fears about the social impact of multiplayer online role-playing games which have been blamed for declining social values and even murder. An estimated 25 million Chinese people play online role-playing games.

Dublin Trip

Arrived in Dublin Friday Night...

Saturday spent a Few Hours with the Gran. Visted the Sibling in Dublin I could locate did some shopping met up with Garry in Gavins Shop Fourth Dimension. Had dinner with Gavin, Garry and David in the Bad Ass. Gavin and Gary went on to Silicon to do their IGA Duties of turning up to the Con and winning the Table Quiz. So I head into guildofevil</span> House warming, attended by many waterford Gamers, bastun_ie his Wife Anne-Marie, natural20 and traveller_syl . Decided to run down to Fibbers before it Closed to find out how Sillicon was going ran in to Many people including microgirl and psysquid . Fibbers looks so different with out the ethernal Smog field. I forgot how long it takes to get a taxi on a saturday night in dublin, plus while we where waiting a Random fight broke out. The Gardai arrived within a minute and the Queue in front of us was shorter by two..

Sunday was very Quite in comparison, arrived in Town for 12, got breakfast talked about movies, LOTR CCG and Comics, got to see multi-talented Syl make an rpg sale. Jumped on the three a clock Train back to tralee...

Again it's been a while since my last Blog entry.

Workwise the Project deadline has passed and still no end in sight.

Went to Fermoy for the weekend, my sisters 21st Fell on Mothers day so the extended family met up for a family dinner which my sister and mother put together... Go figure...

Passing through cork I dropped in to Other Realms and picked up some more of the Belisarius series and the latest book in the Honor Harrington series. Must put together a list of the books that I’m waiting for…

Started the Weekend upgrading my home computer to Win2K and inserting the DVD Reader I had purchased a few weeks ago...

8 long hours later having to Fdisk my hard drive and convincing my computer that yes all the Bios Cables where in fact connected Success.

So I'm now looking forward to going home and Playing NWN Shadows of the Undertide as a Paladin Called Dace Holenfor of Course.

Please Note for Those that Remember the Original Dace thats Paladin, not Thief, Pal-a-din...

Grr they where only Scout levels and Thief was the closest I could find to Noble Mutter..Mutter.

Also found a series of books like the Ash A Secret History book, Belarius I think I spelt that Wrong.. By Eric Flint and David Drake hence the in character Mutter..Mutter

Gen Con US Plan Review

Hmm I've been busy for the last month and probably will be for the next month so the Gen Con US plan seems to have fallen by the wayside...

Whereas I can type this entry up in a txt Document during spare moments and then dump it into an update. Actual concerted work is involved in organising a trip to the States. Still would like to go, still think that this would be my best chance to go, just too lazy/to busy to follow through...

Ah well, reposition nose to grindstone.

Reading Habits

After a thread with nwhyte about authors with I started to think about my reading habits. The majority of the Stuff I read these days are either Fantasy or Science Fiction. I have found that I actually read these for the Universe/Background/Setting I can be really annoyed at the Characters or the Story but If I like the Universe I will continue to read the Book/Series however if I don't like the Universe It does not matter how good the characters are...

So in that case the Universes I enjoy.

Midkemia, Author Raymond E. Feist books are set in a house gaming world (though I appear to be reading his new stuff more for references to his old Serpent War characters)
Wheel Of Time, Author Robert Jordan’s Tapestry with a cast of Hundreds – I’m not a fan of Rand Al'Thor and is Hamlet like dithering and I believe the all female character are almost identical) Warning wait for the series to finish before starting as there is a two year gap between books at best.
Honor Harrington Universe, Author David Weber, okay so it is Based allot on style Sail era Tactics in Space.
Posleen milieu, Author John Ringo the "Good" Aliens arrive, Point out that the Earth is about to be Invaded by another bunch, Military Sci-fi.
Empire of Man, Authors David Weber and John Ringo Pampered Prince Gets stranded on a Low tech World in Hostile Space, grows up and tries to go Home military Low tech and Sci-fi.
Recluse, Author L.E. Modesitt Jr Fantasy Magic and Societies of Order, Chaos and the Balance required.
Game of Thrones, Author George R.R. Martin Fantasy Politics, Military, Feuds, Wars and the Return of Dragons. Winter is coming.
Jerusalem Man, Author David Gemmell Fantasy Post apocalyptic Western features the return of civilisation and its cost includes Magic.
Dreani, Author David Gemmell Fantasy series with more Sword then Sorcery.
Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams hilarious Sci-fi Series.
Uplift Series, Author David Brin Sci-Fi Humans meet a Galaxy wide Space Empire based on Pre-Sentient life forms being uplifted by older races after they had uplifted the chimp and Dolphin and the battle of the Earth Clan to stay independent.

Friday:

So arrived at K2 at about 7:00. Booked to my room and when straight to the Bar do not pass go do not collect 200 dollars. Said hi to a lot of Folks and Chatted in the Bar until a Call went up to play History of the World. Learnt how to play and became the evil dictator in the Second Phase when I managed to control all of the Middle East... So I came Second and Steve Bradley won... finishing at 5:30 in the Morning...

Saturday:

Got up for Breakfast at 9:40 sat around chatting in the Common room until 12ish Played guildofevil Gurps - Traveler Game which was a good laugh...
Ran down to the Main bar to watch the Rugby Match...
Ireland impressed me; they played with the same heart that they showed in the World cup against Australia... England's Forwards looked like they could not get in to the Game... In other years England would have scored one of the three near misses Tries but for a change they did not receive the rub of the Green.
Played a Large game of Mag blast. Followed up win a Weird Dungeon card game before chatting with Dieter and going back to the Lodge to talk about the Realties of Relationships and other World shaking topics... Went to bed...

Sunday:

Got up again in time for Breakfast, first K2 that I got up in time for all of them... Played a Game of Stonewall... Went to the Pool... Returned to the Lodge then went into Killarney for Supplies... Went to the Bar played a Dutch Card game called Twopac??? Played the Caresonne game with most of it's expansions (no River), medieval game involving Cities, monasteries, Highway bandits and Cities Won in a Dramatic Fashion with the Third Last Tile lay...Proceeded to Play my Second RPG of the Weekend involving a really short Villain who was going to feed all the Tall people in Paris Slugs so he could put Salt in their Water and shrivel them to below his Size... Unfortunately I had to leave before the Game finished and Catch the Last (22.25) bus to Tralee.
All in all an enjoyable weekend, which I wish could have gone on a lot longer...

No work on Saturday Yeah!
This means I get the K2 tonight and don't have to worry about how behind the Project plan we are until Monday... So printed of some D20 Character sheets and will se if I can put together characters for a Battlestar Galactica idea I've been kicking around for a while... May require some knowledge of the original series if I'm going to run it however as I won't have time to do up much in the way of character backgrounds... But if people get into the sprit of things I don't think that will detract too much... In Fact if Anton brings his Play station I may be able to show an episode before hand to get people into the atmosphere and of course provide the standard cut screens in the pre-requisite Dog fight...

Assuming I get out of the doctors in time to catch the 5:40 Train to Dublin I will be up in Dublin this week end. I have a few things I have to do and I may not have another free Saturday until late March... So I'll be missing Leprecon on the 28th and 29th but Hope to be able to get to Dominicon on the 19th March - 21st March. More info on Irish gaming Conventions i available here
